February 1-5, 2016 Mrs. Carroll

Happy February, everyone!  We have celebrated 100 days of learning new things and improving things we already know.  This quarter second graders will be developing skills to reach the next level and expectations are higher.  Let's get busy!!

1.  In cursive (and manuscript) handwriting, neatness and correctness is very important.  Slow down and form letters properly.  If not, you will have to re-do the assignment for homework.  Do it right the first time.  Take pride in a job well done!

2.  You will get a handwriting packet on Monday.  It is due on Friday.

3.  Read, Read, Read!  You each have an A-Z home reader.  You get a grade (Literature) for each book you read to me.  No book = zero.

4.  Daily Routines - you are doing a great job! I like to read the dictation sentences because I see the improvement you are making.  You are beginning sentences with capital letters, using punctuation correctly, and paying careful attention.  Way to go!

5.  In Literature, we will read Chapter 5 in  Little House in the Big Woods ("Sundays") and continue to work on the lapbook.  In History, we will spend a little more time on King Tut.  In Bible, we will learn more about the wisdom of King Solomon and read some of the "proverbs" he wrote.
