March 29 - April 1, 2016 Mrs. Carroll

Happy Easter, everyone!

In preparation for the Iowa Test, we will take a series of practice tests during our Language Arts/History block beginning on Tuesday, March 29.  This will give our students the opportunity to become familiar with the format.  Following testing, we will review their answers and help students recognize any misunderstandings.  It will be very important for students to pay attention to instructions and listen carefully (always a good plan for success!!).

We will not have spelling assignments/homework or test during the week of testing preparation.

On Tuesday morning, March 29, we will celebrate the Risen Lord by having a "Resurrection Egg Hunt" and bring back the Alleluia!  Students do not need to bring anything for this event.

Please complete and return the two permission forms for the upcoming trip to Peaceable Kingdom, plus the $5.00 fee.

March 7-11, 2016 Mrs. Carroll

Happy Pre-Spring Break Week-  We are all looking forward to a short vacation!  This week in Bible we learn about another "good" King of Judah.  Our favorite, so far, is Jehoshaphat - he never wavered from his faith in God and he accomplished many good things for Judah.  And we love the song inspired by his faith - "The Battle Belongs to the Lord."

In History, we are learning about the pyramids at Giza.  It has been interesting to read about the step pyramids that were created for the pharaohs.

Spelling Words this week are leaf, leaves, leave, team, people, repeat, deer, dear, bean, been, complete, and either.  Notice that there are homonyms to understand and spell correctly.  Because we have a short week, we will have the spelling test on Thursday (no trial test).  Homework worksheets this week are #103, 104, 105.

We will read and understand words with  the suffix "ness" as well work with nouns and adjectives.  We will get back to Little House in the Big Woods and catch up with the adventures of the Ingalls family.  We continue to practice cursive writing - students are doing a great job!

Remember that this week we have spring pictures.  Cowboy Day is Friday, with early dismissal.
